What a beautiful example of this Knickerbocker Civil War Token. I see no marks what so ever, and the surfaces themselves are nearly mirror like in look and quality. Consider how many of these tokens can only be found in dark, corroded, or damaged condition, at the very least, not to mention the eye appeal they lack, but this particular piece is a winner!!
One must know that this series was privately minted however, and not as much money was put into the striking tools as was put into them by the US Mint. At any rate, this is a very nice piece and far above average.
I have handled a few of these Knickerbockers’ Money pieces, but never paid attention to the phrase on it that just made me laugh....."Money makes the mule go". Well, all I can say is that nothing has changed since the Civil War in that respect.
