I am selling off some of my extras as I upgrade my collection.

This auction is for:
a scarce 1837 Coronet Head Cent grading very choice AU. Here's a high end AU that many would call Uncirculated. This was marked N-16 and plain cord when I purchased it. It has nice glossy chocolate brown surfaces and fewer than normal marks for the grade. There are a few very light rim bruises and a tick in the field obverse near star three that don't detract, mentioned for accuracy. The detail is sharp and about as full as can be expected for a large cent. A really nice piece to fill that empty hole in your high grade circulated set, and priced very fairly considering an AU of this quality runs $500 easily, so fill that hole in your set while it's still available.
These early dates are becoming very difficult to find without major damage or heavily corroded, so grab this one before someone else beats you to it.

GRADING AND PRICING
I use ANA grading standards and interpret them based on photos in the official guide as well as 40+ years personal experience. Feel free to disagree with our grading and offer whatever you like. I post a large clear photo of each item we sell so I rarely have any returns. It is not possible to describe every mark on a coin so see the pic and email any questions before bidding. The goal is to avoid surprises. Any prices mentioned are for reference purposes only and are not meant to imply any guaranty grade or value of item elsewhere. Please check your preferred price guides before bidding.
A word on SLABS:
I have seen so many misgrades by the major grading services the past couple years, both overgraded and undergraded, that I have lost all faith in them and wonder why anyone would trust their opinion in the first place.
And are the 'big boys' trying to tell us you can't get ripped off by buying a PCGS or NGC slab? Sure you can, IF you don't know what you're looking at! It seems to me that the very people they claim to be protecting are the ones most likely to be ripped off when buying their slabs!
Why pay them a premium for what amounts to nothing more than a poor opinion at times. Sometimes I think they've been doing their grading at the local bar and grill at happy hour! Save yourself a ton of money and go back to enjoying coin collecting for what it is for- THE COINS! Learn to grade and stop paying for someone else's opinion. I have saved so much in the past 15 years since I stopped buying slabs that I have many more coins to show for my money now...
SHIPPING CHARGES
Postage Rates: $1.50 cents for single coin auction and 50 cents per coin thereafter for coins won in auctions all ending within a 72 hour period. Payment must be mailed promptly. Insurance is recommended but optional at post office rates (please see www.usps.com). Coins will be securely packed flat or in a bubble mailer.
INSURANCE IS NOT INCLUDED IN SHIPPING & HANDLING- please add for it, at post office rates- we are not liable for any loss if insurance is not purchased, and you agree not to leave negative feedback if there is an uninsured loss.
PAYMENT
Payment is due 7 days from auction close.
US Postal Service money orders (only available at the post office) are considered immediate payment and will receive immediate shipment upon receipt.
All other standard forms of payment, including personal checks, are acceptable but must clear my backwoods bank before shipping and can sometimes take WEEKS for confirmation of payment of funds.
Due to the potential for fraud and difficulty of a fair resolution, I don't accept Paypal or Credit Cards.
RETURNS
3 Day return from the day you sign for the item for any item for ANY reason UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED IN DESCRIPTION.
PCGS and NGC slabbed coins are not returnable unless specifically noted in description.
Postage fees for returned items are not refundable. Items removed from original holders are considered sold and not returnable under any circumstance. Please email your intent immediately before returning any item.
RETURN PRIVILEGE IS VOID IF PAYMENT IS NOT MAILED PROMPTLY.
