This is a vintage female figure painting on black velvet. It's likely from the 60's 70's, appears to be acrylic on black velvet and is signed though it's not legibly written enough to really read (pictured). The velvet canvas is stretched over a wooden frame and placed in a large wooden, hand carved outer frame. This buxom brunette is big at 38" tall and 27" wide with the outer frame. She's been in storage for years and could use a thorough dusting but having never cleaned or worked on velvet before I didn't want to risk anything.
This is a great piece of kitsch art and would look great in your bar, lounge, tiki bar, retro study, or wherever you need something vintage, unique and easy on the eyes. Some research has said that these type of paintings were often done of Playboy centerfolds though sadly I don't anything about the history of this except that a certain grandpa I knew had an eye for the ladies. In fact I also have another similar painting listed as well featuring a fiery red headed woman.
